Recently, a reader named Jessamine reached out to our editorial team to share that she was disappointed with her boyfriend’s proposal. Accordingly, the woman was upset because he had given her a cheap ring and felt that it was not a reflection of his love for her.

“I am writing to you to seek your advice on a delicate matter.
My boyfriend of 2 years recently proposed to me with a $10 ring. I was so shocked that I said “I do” without thinking. But now, I’m regretting it.
To give you some context, my boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years. We met in college and have been inseparable ever since. He’s always been a bit frugal, but I never thought it would extend to our engagement.
I understand that it’s not about the ring, but it’s the principle of the matter. I feel like he doesn’t value me enough to get me a proper ring. I don’t need anything extravagant, but I at least expected something that wasn’t from a dollar store.
I know that he might not have a lot of money, but I don’t think that’s an excuse. He has a decent job and I know he’s been saving up for a new car.
To make matters worse, my friends have been lowkey mocking me for the ring. They keep asking me if it’s a joke or if he got it from a vending machine. It’s humiliating.
I don’t know what to do. I love him, but I can’t help but feel like he doesn’t love me
Thank you for your time.
Jessamine”
